Rockin’ 40 |Richmond Hill Photographer

When Tara first approached me about scheduling a portrait session for her 40th birthday, I was truly giddy with excitement. It’s not often that adults throw out all the stops for themselves, but turning 40 is a huge milestone and one that absolutely should be celebrated! Tara mentioned wanting to do a 50s theme and I instantly thought of the perfect place. A huge shout out to Johnny Rockets of Pooler, Georgia for not only allowing us to work in your amazing restaurant, but for not even hesitating when we asked!

What entertainment Tara and I provided for the patrons of Johnny Rockets who were enjoying their late afternoon lunch as we stumbled in with our bags, purses, and strobe light! Everyone was completely gracious and a few customers even requested selfies with our birthday girl, haha! Can you tell Tara had the best time during her session? I know it’s definitely one of my favorites to date.

Look out 1950s! Tara, you are totally working it, girl.

No doubt Tara looks authentically 50s in her wig and gorgeous make-up … all styling done herself! Funny story about Tara’s wig … she purchased it from a drag website. She said the rolls were HUGE and it took her hours to “tame” them, lol.

The decor and furniture at Johnny Rockets is out of this world! It’s such a fun place to eat and take portraits of your friend looking fabulous at 40 years old! Don’t all of the bright reds just pop in her images? And that red lipstick? Gah! To die for!

Have you even been been to Johnny Rockets? If you haven’t and you love a good, classic burger and fries, please check them out. The milkshakes are pretty amazing, too. This restaurant is one of my oldest son’s favorite places to eat and the staff are incredibly friendly.

The pose on the right is one that Tara definitely wanted captured … I think we nailed it!

Tara provided her own clothes and shoes for her portrait session. Several years back Tara went through a stage where she dressed for the 50s daily and ended up with a beautiful collection of vintage items from that decade. Love it!

Of course you’re not a true 50s girl unless you have a motorcycle…or a guy who rides one. 😉 She is sporting another fun 50’s ensemble here. We were literally dodging raindrops and barely finished before the skies opened up.

Ya’ll, this was such a fun session! Do you have a favorite image? It was a joy and pleasure photographing Tara for her very special 40th birthday. I always love the opportunity to photograph a friend, especially when it’s in such a fabulous location. Tara, I hope you and your family enjoy these images for many years to come. Blessed to know you!
